AAA Battery Health Check

About this project

Winter season in the US is the peak period for battery failures. The AAA wanted to create a preventative care campaign - “Free battery health check”. It was a win-win situation, the AAA would potentially prevent a member from the inconvenience of a car breakdown, thus increasing battery sales to their members.


Solution

Car batteries are not the most exciting product, so we needed to create a visually appealing advert. The first approach was to use bold typography and include a product shot. In second advert, we decided to use the obvious stethoscope for checking the battery’s health, and it was successful in communicating the message. The creative was well received and the campaign generated a substantial increase in battery sales and awareness. The radio campaign also helped reinforce the message. A battery tester report brochure was the extra piece of communication needed to inform the member of their battery’s state of health.
